Stony Brook rockin’

Dave Coley scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Anthony Jackson hit a late 3-pointer to lift Stony Brook to a 56-54 win over New Hampshire in Durham, N.H.

Jackson and Jameel Warney each finished with 11 points for the Seawolves (17-5, 8-1 America East), who have won nine of their last 10 games. It was also Stony Brook’s 10th road victory.

Stony Brook led the majority of the second half, but had a tough time holding off New Hampshire. The Wildcats cut the lead to 53-52 before Jackson knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:16 remaining.

VCU 81, Fordham 65

In Richmond, Va., Fordham lost for the fifth time in six games with a turnover-plagued effort.

Virginia Commonwealth turned 22 Fordham turnovers into 32 points, and Troy Daniels scored 29 points for the hosts, including 13 during a 15-3 second-half run.

Bryan Smith scored 17 points and Mandell Thomas 16 for Fordham (6-15, 2-5 Atlantic 10), which again played without injured senior forward Chris Gaston.

William & Mary 72, Hofstra 59

In Williamsburg, Va., Hofstra lost its sixth in a row, finding no answer for Tim Rusthoven, who scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for William & Mary.

David Imes scored 16 points for Hofstra (5-17, 2-7 Colonial), which shot just 35.6 percent (21-of-59).

Princeton 72, Columbia 66

In Princeton, T.J. Bray scored 17 points and Ian Hummer hit clutch foul shots down the stretch as Princeton (10-7, 3-0) stayed tied atop the Ivy League standings with Harvard by winning its fifth straight. Maodo Lo led Columbia (9-9, 1-3) with 16 points.

Britt finished with 17 points, Marcus Thornton 16 and Kyle Gaillard 13 for the Tribe, which had lost nine of its last 10.

Canisius 77, Iona 74

In Buffalo, Iona fouled a 3-point shooter while trying to protect a 74-72 lead in the final minute, then committed turnovers on its final two possessions to drop a tight one. The Gaels (14-9, 8-4 MAAC) got a career-high 18 points from Taaj Ridley.

Quinnipiac 74, Wagner 69

In Staten Island, Latif Rivers scored a season-high 29 points, but Wagner (12-9, 6-4 Northeast) fell at home.

St. Francis (Pa.) 64, St. Francis B’klyn 61

In Brooklyn, St. Francis (Pa.) tallied just its second victory of the season at the expense of St. Francis Brooklyn. The Terriers (9-12, 5-5 Northeast Conference) led 56-55 with 3:20 left to play but did not score again until Jalen Cannon’s layup with 22 seconds showing.

Bryant 77, Monmouth 62

In West Long Branch, N.J., Monmouth (8-15, 3-7) was no match for Northeast Conference leader Bryant, despite a career-high 27 points from Jesse Steele.

C. Conn. St. 80, Fairleigh Dickinson 71

In Teaneck, Yves Jules more than doubled his previous career high, scoring 34 points off the bench in a losing effort for Fairleigh Dickinson (7-16, 2-8 Northeast).
