St. Joe’s loss means so long to coach’s precious grandson

Philip Martelli does a mean impersonation of his grandfather, St. Joseph’s coach Phil Martelli. Turns out, his interview skills are just as adorable.

TBS interviewed Philip during Thursday night’s St. Joe’s-UConn NCAA Tournament game, and the precocious 4-year-old proved full of sound bites. He described his grandfather’s sideline gestures and his affinity for the Hawks mascot.

“In sitdown timeouts, I run all around the court and flap my wings,” Philip said, in conclusion.

The night didn’t end happy for Philip: St. Joseph’s was bounced by Connecticut in overtime, 89-81, ending this young TV star’s tournament.
