Harlem cyclist crushed by bus

A bicyclist was killed by an MTA bus in Harlem Sunday.

Pedro Santiago was killed as the bus pulled out.

Pedro Santiago, 45, was mowed down as the Bx15 bus pulled out of a stop on West 125th Street near Lenox Avenue at about 1:25 a.m.

Santiago was clipped by the bus when he tried to cross in front of it as it pulled out of a stop, according to an MTA spokesman and police.

As Santiago fell into the street, the bus ran over him, cops said. He suffered trauma to his head and body.

Medics rushed him to Harlem Hospital, but he could not be revived.

The driver was treated for trauma at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Cops do not suspect criminality in the crash, but it is still under investigation.

Santiago lived on Lexington Avenue near East 126th Street in East Harlem.

He was the 16th traffic fatality this year, according to preliminary NYPD data and traffic-safety advocates. The dead include nine pedestrians as well as five drivers and passengers.
