High noon for taxes

It’s tax day, and that means long lines at the post office.

The worst crush of last-minute filers is typically around noon, officials said.

Taxes must be filed before midnight. In Manhattan, only the main post office, at 31st Street and Eighth Avenue, will stay open until then.

Nearly 90 percent of all tax returns filed so far this season have been sent electronically, according to IRS statistics.
