10 kids hospitalized after drinking boozy pizzeria punch

Hey Mom, this fruit punch tastes funny.

A Chicago pizzeria “accidentally” served spiked punch to 10 children — sending them to the hospital.

The kids, all 10 years old and younger, were at the Home Run Inn pizza place for a birthday party Tuesday and thought they were getting fruit juice to wash down their pizza, reports CBS Chicago. A dimwitted server inadvertently served the youngsters the wrong juice — giving them some that had been mixed with alcohol.

“The drinks tasted funny to begin with, but we didn’t pay it any attention. We thought it was just us,” said Neyante Eggleston, whose child was at the party, told CBS.

When the waitstaff realized their mistake, they tried to quietly take the drinks away, but the parents eventually figured out what had happened, CBS Chicago reported.

“So as they’re swooping cups up, one of the parents of the kids got a whiff of the cup, and it was alcohol,” Eggleston said.

That’s when the kids started crying and got sick.

The restaurant never admitted to anything or even apologized.

“Everybody makes mistakes, but why would you just come and snatch the cups up, and not say anything to the parents of these kids that you just served alcohol?” she said. “Those who did drink, they drunk everything.”

All 10 children were taken to a local hospital and all were in stable condition.
