Brignac to make Yankees debut vs. Orioles

BALTIMORE — Reid Brignac will make his debut for the Yankees Monday night in Baltimore batting eighth and playing shortstop.

Brignac, 27, was acquired Saturday from the Rockies in exchange for cash and was in the lineup on Sunday against the Blue Jays before the game was rained out. The utilityman also plays second and third base as well as the outfield. And with a number of the Yankees’ infielders on the disabled list, he could find himself in the lineup frequently.

With the Rockies, Brignac had a home run and six RBIs in 29 games. He spent the first five years of his career with the Rays, so he knows the Orioles well. His three home runs and 11RBIs against the Orioles are his most against any team.
