Rodriguez gets license for Kentucky Derby

Following a two-hour appearance before the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on Tuesday, Rudy Rodriguez, the trainer of Kentucky Derby candidate Vyjack, was granted a license by the KHRS, with conditions.

A statement from the KHRC reads:

“The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s License Review Committee today voted to grant a license to Rudy Rodriguez as trainer on condition that Mr. Rodriguez acquire complete 24 hour surveillance, including but not limited to, video surveillance for the horse Vyjack while the horse is on Churchill Downs grounds. The surveillance must be approved the KHRC and open to KHRC.”

Though several other trainers of horses in this year’s Derby on May 4 have accumulated more serious violations that Rodriguez, he was the only one called before the KHRC.
