Rutgers receiver pranked he was first-round pick: report

Rutgers receiver Mohamed Sanu got the phone call every NFL Draft prospect dreams of getting during the first round.

But then it turned out to be a hoax. With the Bengals on the clock with the 27th pick of Thursday night’s draft, Sanu got a call from someone claiming to be with Cincinnati and that the team was about to select him, SI.com reported. Sanu’s agent, Mike McCartney, even tweeted that his client was about to become a Bengals receiver.

But when commissioner Roger Goodell came to the podium at Radio City, he announced that the Bengals were taking Wisconsin offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler.

“This is a great kid, I guarantee you, and someone played a cruel joke on him,” McCartney told the website. “It is unreal that someone would do that, but it happened.”
