Jessica Sanchez Rescued in “Idol” Shocker

Last night’s “American Idol” results show was a stunner.

Resident teen diva Jessica Sanchez, whose powerhouse voice has brought the judges to their feet on several occasions this season, found herself facing elimination, having received the fewest votes.

The judges were flummoxed and forecasted that they intended to use their once-a-season “save” even before their official announcement, with Steven Tyler blurting out, “We’re going to use our card tonight, especially with an outcome like this.”

But as she launched into “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” it was clear that Jessica didn’t get the memo. Thinking she was making her final performance, Jessica’s voice began to wobble and her eyes turned glassy as the judges rushed the stage.

“Give me that mike,” blurted out Jennifer Lopez. “This is crazy! Yes, we’re using the save. You ain’t going home. Go sit down!”

Jessica was flat-out stunned, not understanding what was going on as J. Lo pushed her to the side of the stage with the other contestants.

Jessica, just 16 years old, has continually wowed the “Idol” audience with solid performances of ballads like “I Will Always Love You” and “Love You I Do.”

Wednesday night Jessica sang “Stuttering” by Jazmine Sullivan. She did a fine job on a challenging song and earned the judges’ praise.

“Every time I hear you sing, I forget where I am,” said Tyler Wednesday night.

Apparently, so did her fans.
