WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is starting to resemble a slapstick comedy.
Veteran CBS journalist Bob Schieffer ripped IRS employees who targeted Tea Party and conservative groups as “dumb and dumber” yesterday.
“Why would anyone break into a political headquarters? Nobody is dumb enough to pull a stunt like that. But they were!” he said during a commentary portion of “Face the Nation.”
“So, welcome to dumb and dumber,” he declared.
He added that the president’s claim that he didn’t find out about the targeting until last week “qualified him for Washington’s fastest-growing club: the longer and longer list of officials who suddenly don’t know much about a lot of unpleasant things, from Benghazi to the Associated Press investigation.”
“I don’t want to compare this in any way to Watergate . . . but I have to tell you, that is exactly the approach the Nixon administration took,” he said. “You’re taking exactly the same line.”
