Scrap metal peddler fatally shot after argument

A man going door-to-door trying to sell pieces of scrap metal was fatally gunned down on a Staten Island street, cops said.

The 54-year-old man knocked on the suspect’s door near Arlington Place and Grandview Avenue Friday at 8:30 p.m., according to police.

But the suspect, believed to be a man in his mid-twenties, wasn’t interested in buying anything.

The two men got into an argument and the suspect pulled out a pistol, shooting the scrap peddler in the stomach and leg, cops said.

The victim was rushed to Richmond County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival, cops said.

Shell casings from a .380 caliber firearm were recovered at the scene, cops said.

Police are still searching for the culprit.
