‘Twilight’s’ Jackson Rathbone Monkeys about in New York

It’s virtually impossible to find a young Hollywood star who doesn’t have aspirations of becoming the next hot music act. Thanks to “Glee” and virtually every show on Nickelodeon and Disney, it’s practically an imperative that young actors be able to sing and dance if they want to get jobs.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone – who plays vampire Jasper and once interviewed other actors for the Disney Channel – spends his downside playing in a “funky rock n’ roll” band called 100 Monkeys, which just so happens to be performing at Gramercy Theatre tomorrow night (July 16).

Rathbone, who goes by the band nickname “j. action,” is not only a singer, but also a guitarist, bassist, trumpeter, mandolinist, harmonicist and does something with drum keys. (No word on his dancing skills, though.)

The band’s lyrical inspiration, according to their Web site, is “drinking, the devil, death, and women who cheat and steal.” Does that spark your interest? How about this? The band’s music video for their song, “Ugly Girl.” Makes you wonder what their live show is like, right?
