Yankees A-Rod, Jeter, Chamberlain top overrated poll

The Yankees got the win, place and show in Sports Illustrated’s most-overrated poll.

According to reports, the magazine asked 185 players who the most overrated players in baseball are and Alex Rodriguez was first with 18 percent, Joba Chamberlain second with 12 percent and Derek Jeter third with 7 percent. Chamberlain and A-Rod finished 1-2 last year, but Jeter was a new addition after receiving a three-year, $45 million deal this offseason. The Yankees captain is 19 hits shy of 3,000 entering play Tuesday.

Chamberlain has received much attention after breaking onto the scene with a dominant end to the 2007 season. But the following three-plus years have been marred with inconsistency as the Yankees tried making him a starter before moving back to the bullpen full-time.

Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher received 4 percent of the vote to tie Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon for fifth on the list. Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth, who signed a seven-year, $126 million deal with the Nationals this offseason, was fourth with 7 percent.
