DEALS: SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld may often come in third in the trifecta of must-do Orlando theme parks, but for the non-ride set or the critter conscious, it’s a great choice. (Thrill seekers note: It may only have three rides, but two of them — Kracken and the new flying face-down Manta — are rated top 10 by rollercoaster aficionados.)

Now, SeaWorld is the top runner for the budget conscious — the park has just announced that through December 31, kids 12 and under get in for just $5 with each full-paid, SeaWorld single-day adult admission purchased online ($78.95.) Even better, all of the five bucks will be donated to non-profit wildlife conservation organizations. Complete details are available at SeaWorldCares.com.

What’s to see there? Well, while the “Believe” killer whale show is currently stripped bare and devoid of whale and trainer interaction due to recent tragedy, the park’s wildlife exhibits more than compensate. If you can, pay extra for the educational 90 minute whale interaction feature ($99 to $149 per person) where a maximum party of four can get a behind-the-scenes experience culminating in a stint in the pool to train (and get a blubbery hug from) a beluga whale. Reservations are required: log on to seaworld.org.
