New Deputy Mayor gave Bloomberg opponent Tiart campaign cash

Per The Post’s Dave Seifman, he caught an interesting campaign contribution in new Deputy Mayor Stephen Goldsmith’s donation history – a $250 pop to Kansas Rep. Todd Tiahrt, the same man his new boss Mayor Bloomberg went to war with over gun legislation in 2007.

Bloomberg and his anti-illegal gun coalition have focused heavily on repealing the Tiahrt Amendment, which prevents the federal AT F from releasing information from its firearm trace databse to people other than a prosecutor or a law enforcement agency according to a particular investigation.

Bloomberg himself campaigned nationally against Tiahrt in 2007.

A Bloomberg spokesman said Tiahrt is the ranking Republican on the Appropriations subcommittee that funds the Corporation for National Service – which GOldsmith chairs- which runs AmeriCorps. The two worked together on national service issues, the aide said.
