P.R. firm spreads the love on Valentine’s Day

What, no flowers?

Included in our daily snail mail delivery Friday was a most unusual card — a Happy Valentine’s Day from Brew Media Relations.

While Christmas and New Year’s cards regularly flood the office, we’ve never been a p.r. firm’s sweetheart before.

So we asked Brew founder Brooke Hammerling, the queen of technology p.r. who’s the go-to adviser for such power players as Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, if she really loves us that much or if this was just some ploy to curry favor.

Turns out Hammerling doesn’t just love us, but all of her clients and colleagues, to whom she sends personalized Valentine’s Day cards every year.

“The thing is, everyone sends holiday cards and they seem like a requirement and they get lost in the mounds of other holiday cards and seem so generic and impersonal,” Hammerling told us via e-mail. (Of course we didn’t talk via phone, she’s a gadget junky!)

“I love the idea of making sure everyone has a Valentine and making the cards personal so we write them out by hand to everyone and hand address them and create new cards each year becasue we love what we do, we love the people we get the opportunity to work with and I thought these cards would bring a smile,” she continued.

Well, mission accomplished.

We love you, too, Brooke!

But honestly, next year you can show us your affection by sending along some scoops instead?
