Early St. Patrick’s Day, No WBC Fever tonight

Went to church this morning in Ft. Lauderdale and before the mass started the priest had everyone turn to their neighbor and wish a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. They also sang “Danny Boy.”

That’s getting in the spirit a few days early, good job.

Not exactly WBC fever taking over here in Miami. Forty minutes before the start of the Netherlands vs. USA there were about 200 people in the stands at Dolphin Stadium.

Talk about a loser’s bracket.

Every day the U.S. seems to come down with another injury as well. Saturday it was Dustin Pedroia knocked out by a strained oblique, last night it was Chipper Jones KO’d by the same injury and he was replaced at DH by Derek Jeter.

Jones has tried his best to hang in there with the injury. Johnson said Jones told him he’d have to use a “crowbar” to get him out of the lineup. A little while later he was scratched.

So it goes for Team USA.

For those wondering, the ocean temperature down here now is equivalent to August down the Jersey shore, just in case you were wondering.
