Red Bulls potpourri (vs. Boca Jrs Friday, Pacheco speaks, & lovely Adriana Lima)

The Red Bulls have a chance to finish their four-game swing through Argentina undefeated _ and see trialist Carlos Johnson in action _ Friday at 2 p.m. ET when they play Boca Junior’s reserves.

“We are hoping to have just as good an effort as in the other matches,” said Juan Carlos Osorio. “So far we’ve been very productive; against the teams we have already played, we have seen first-team players. I expect it be a positive opportunity for all the players involved.”

MF Luke Sassano _ who I’m told got a bumped from developmental to Senior status _ said of Boca “Any time you can play a team of that caliber, a team with that history, its going to be exciting. It will be a fun match for us, but nonetheless, we will be competitive and try and get a result.”

*** While Johnson is in camp, the club doesn’t have a John Hancock from target Alfredo Pacheco…yet. But El Salvador’s National Team captain spoke with La Prensa Grafica, saying he plans to win an MLS Cup with the Red Bulls, leave a legacy with the club, earn his way to a long-term deal, and blaze a path for his countryman to follow into MLS.

Those of you who can read Spanish, enlighten yourselves here. Those of you who can’t…Babel Fish!

*** As the Red Bulls were sweating down in South America, the Red Bull street team was in New York doing their thing. They were on NBC’s Today Show yesterday, and while I’m sure many of the senior players were pushing up on some fine Gabriela Sabatini-looking ladies, the Street Team got to hang with supermodel Adriana Lima backstage at Rockefeller Plaza.

Here they are with the lovely Mrs. Marko Jarić.
