Pepe goes postal

OK, so what left you more stunned: Real Madrid pulling off their shocking rally against Getafe, or Pepe losing his damn mind, kicking a player lying prone on the ground (twice), decking another, and then cussing out the fourth official?

You can read all about it here, or you can watch it here:

First, Pepe gave up an 88th-minute penalty by fouling Getafe’s Javier Casquero. So, to get his money’s worth, he kicked Casquero twice as he was lying on the ground and stomped on his back. Then he slugged Juan Angel Albin _ who’d put Getafe ahead 2-1 _ and cursed out the ref. And to make matters worse, not only did Real Madrid win 3-2 but coach Juande Ramos had the unmitigated gall to defend Pepe.

“Pepe lost his cool but he did not mean to attack Casquero,” Ramos was quoted as saying postgame. “He was more upset with himself and he only wanted to kick at the air in anger but at no moment did he intend to hurt his opponent. I am sure that he is very sorry and in these situations, we should forgive him for losing his temper because a lot was at stake.”
