Off-duty traffic agent dies when thrown from motorcycle and run over by cab on Belt Parkway: cops

An off-duty traffic enforcement agent was killed last night when she was thrown from the back of a motorcycle after the driver hit a barrier along the Belt Parkway and was run over by a taxi that fled the scene, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said today.

The unidentified male and female riders were traveling eastbound on the Belt Parkway near the Rockaway Parkway exit in Canarsie when the 42-year-old driver hit the center barrier, sending the 37-year-old NYPD employee flying into the westbound lanes, authorities said.

“When the motorcycle rounded a curb, the passenger was ejected,” Kelly said at a press conference in Harlem.

She was then run over by a cabbie who fled the scene.

“We’re looking for that taxi cab now,” Kelly added

Both victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead. The driver was listed in stable condition, according to cops.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
