YOGI AND MORE

Participated in a cool event today at Yogi Berra Museum.

Dave Kaplan asked me to be a guest speaker to a group of about 60 fans who came up from South Jersey. They asked some great questions and I wound up talking for about 45 minutes. At the end I got two ovations so that was real nice of the fans.

Yogi’s place is a great place to hang out especially when the weather chills up. It overlooks the ballpark on the Montclair campus. Tonight there was an event where fans watched Game 2 of the World Series.

Considering how late these games go, that’s quite a commitment from Yogi, and the fans.

Also check out the always entertaining and informative web site BaseballAnalysts.com. The good people there polled all kinds of baseball writers earlier this week to get their World Series picks. Since I picked the Rays to beat the Red Sox in seven games, I’m staying on their bandwagon. The picks were submitted before Game 1 and as I pointed out, Cole Hamels is the difference-maker for the Phils. Then he went out and made a difference. We’ll see if the Rays rebound.

When I lived in San Diego, Cole was the star pitcher of our Little League, Carmel Mountain Ranch Little League. He’s still a star. Congrats to a good kid, who always played the game the right way.
