Report: Mets call up Nick Evans

According to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, the injury-ravaged Mets have called up first baseman Nick Evans from Double-A Binghamton. Evans was told of the move during the ninth inning of Friday night’s game against Reading and will fly to Denver this morning to join the big-league club. The Mets apparently are reacting to the hamstring injury suffered by backup first baseman Marlon Anderson during Friday night’s game against the Rockies. Evans was hitting .292 with eight homers and 31 RBIs in 45 games with the B-Mets at the time of his surprise call-up.
