The Boston Red Sox today recalled right-hander Craig Hansen from Triple-A Pawtucket and placed outfielder Brandon Moss on the 15-day disabled list.

Hansen is with the club for the second time this season. The former St. John’s star was recalled April 23 and lost to Los Angeles after giving up two hits and a run in 1-1/3 relief innings. He was sent down after the game.

Moss had an appendectomy Saturday in Boston and was released from Massachusetts General Hospital a day later. The DL designation is retroactive to Saturday. He was hitting .286 in six games this season with two home runs and three RBIs.
