The Beating the Bushes top prospects in both the Mets and Yankees organizations, Mets OF prospect Fernando Martinez and Yankees C prospect Jesus Montero, have been selected to appear in the Futures Game during All-Star Festivities at Yankee Stadium July 13.
The 19-year-old Martinez, Baseball America’s No. 1 overall prospect in the Mets system before the year began, who currently is rehabbing a strained right hamstring with the Mets Gulf Coast League affiliate, is hitting .280 with three homers and 16 RBI with Double-A Binghamton, while the 18-year-old Montero is hitting .307 with seven home runs and 48 RBI with Low-A Charleston.
