‘Today’ demo win

NBC’s “Today” show finally has something to brag about.

While it still trails top-rated “Good Morning America” in total viewers, “Today” did pull off a victory the week of June 24 in adults 25-54 — the demo most coveted by advertisers — helped by Matt Lauer’s exclusive June 26 interview with the embattled Paula Deen.

It’s the first time “Today” beat “GMA” in the demo since mid-April — the week of the Boston Marathon bombings.

For the week, “Today” topped “GMA” by 6,000 viewers in adults 25-54.

“GMA” averaged nearly 5 million total viewers for the week, compared to 4.5 million for “Today” — the closet margin between the two shows since the week of March 18.
