Ahhh! Heat relief is on the way

Thank goodness for super soakers!

Thunderstorms will break the city’s unbearable six-day heat wave this evening, after New Yorkers suffered through a 100-degree scorcher yesterday.

Yes, it will be 97 today — but temps will drop to the mid-70s when the storms roll in tonight, which should please folks like this firefighter, who cooled off with soaked rags after battling a blaze in Hell’s Kitchen.

The National Weather Service yesterday upgraded its “heat advisory” warning to an “excessive heat” warning, issued when the heat index climbs from 105 degrees to 115.
