Weiner did laundry for Huma to help rebuild their ‘normal family,’ newly-released People interview excerpts reveal

A year after resigning from congress over his first sexting scandal, Anthony Weiner claimed that he was a mellowed out new father working every day to be a better husband by doing chores around the house.

“Every day since this has happened, I’ve tried to become a better person, a husband that Huma deserves and as good a father as I can be,” Weiner told People Magazine in outtakes released Sunday from his now infamous July 18, 2012 interview.

“I’ve explored every way to try to do those things and I’m committed to continuing on that path.”

Weiner’s path to being husband and father of the year included doing the laundry, making tea for his wife Huma Abedin, and finding peace at 3 a.m. with his newborn son.

“I mean, I have not washed a single piece of clothing ever. Anthony does all our laundry. I have not been to our dry cleaner. He does that. He makes my tea when I get up in the morning. He’s just a loving, caring, thoughtful spouse and partner,” Abedin said.

For his part Weiner told the magazine that he had learned to like the 3:30 a.m. showing of ESPN’s “Sportscenter” — which he watched with his baby son while contemplating deep philosophical questions about his life.

“I learned that I always had a great sense of where I was going and how to get there next but I didn’t have a good sense of just sitting and being and feeling and having a sense of peace.”

“That’s not my m.o. Of all the adjectives you could use to describe Anthony Weiner, ‘still’ wouldn’t be one of them. I really do feel like a very, very different person.”

Huma, it seemed at the time, agreed that her husband had changed and was happy to move on.

“We’re a happy family,” Abedin said. “We’re a couple in love and have a baby boy who is a reflection of that love and I want people to know that. I just want people to know we’re a normal family.”

However, while Weiner and Abedin portrayed themselves as a couple on the mend, the horn-dog former congressman was already up to his pervy old tricks having started his online relationship with Sydney Leathers on July 12, 2011.

By August of 2012, only a month after the People interview, Weiner was sending lewd pictures of his private parts to the bathing ‘booty.’
