Twitter CEO breaks NCAA rule by tweeting Michigan recruit: report

Dick Costolo is a man the NCAA considers to be a booster to the University of Michigan. He is also the CEO of Twitter, and a recruit named George Campbell is a prospective Michigan wide receiver.

These three realities would collide in ironic fashion.

Here’s how it went:

Costolo responded with a since-deleted tweet celebrating the announcement.

And unfortunately for American society, that was against some kind of rule somewhere. In this case, it was against the NCAA’s rule on when boosters can contact prospects. Costolo had jumped the gun.
