Couple sues Philip Seymour Hoffman’s estate

A West Village couple is suing Philip Seymour Hoffman’s estate after their 1 Sheridan Square apartment was flooded, allegedly due to a leak in the late actor’s $1.4 million penthouse.

Gene Hoffnagel and Anna Erdelyi, who lived below Hoffman in Apt. 8A in the upscale Sheridan Condominiums, were displaced for 11 months in 2011 after they came home from vacation to a flooded apartment, which sustained “structural damage,” the suit said.

The cause was due to a faulty pipe connection between a hot-water supply and kitchen faucet in the “Capote” star’s home, which he used as an office and guest home, the married couple’s lawyer Mark Seitelman said.

The Manhattan Supreme Court suit “represents their out-of-pocket loss to fix the apartment to what it was before,” said Seitelman.

“They have no ill will toward Hoffman,” he said.

Hoffman owned the $1.4 million penthouse with longtime girlfriend Mimi O’Donnell, the mother of his three kids and executor of his will.

The suit, which also names O’Donnell, seeks more than $87,329 in damages. She did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
