Pope Francis appoints three bishops to NYC

Pope Francis on Saturday appointed three bishops to serve under Timothy Cardinal Dolan.

The priests — Monsignor John Jenik of Our Lady of Refuge in The Bronx, Rev. Peter Byrne of St. Elizabeth’s in Manhattan, and Rev. John O’Hara, the former pastor of St. Teresa’s on Staten Island — will be ordained as bishops on Aug. 4 in St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

“All three bishops-elect are seasoned pastors,” Dolan said.
