DWI cop indicted for fatally mowing down woman

Accused DWI killer cop Andrew Kelly has been indicted by a Brooklyn grand jury on charges that include vehicular manslaughter, speeding and driving under the influence, authorities announced today.

The indictment charges that Kelly, 30, caused a car accident in the early hours of Sept. 27, 2009, near Avenue N and East 56th St. in Flatlands, in which Vionique Valnord-Kassime was killed.

If convicted, Kelly, a seven-year NYPD veteran, faces up to seven years in prison.

The Post reported that a cop was suspended for giving gum and water to Kelly soon after he fatally mowed down Valnord-Kassime.

A female sergeant also has been reassigned from night tours to a daytime shift and could face departmental charges for a delay in getting Kelly to a hospital to check his blood-alcohol level.

Seven hours elapsed between the time Kelly struck the 33-year-old woman and the testing of his blood. No alcohol was found in his system.

All NYPD supervisors who were at the scene are being reinterviewed by Internal Affairs Bureau officials, who were trying to determine if there was a cover-up.

Kelly was off-duty and driving a Jeep carrying three pals, including another officer, when he mowed down the woman.

Kelly reeked of booze and had slurred speech and glassy eyes, prosecutors said.

He has admitted to downing several beers that night.
