Girls soccer roundup: Beacon wins Manhattan A-II title

The first step to another shot at a PSAL City title is complete for Beacon, but it didn’t come easy.

Elsa hardy scored twice for the Blue Demons in a 2-1 win over second place LaGuardia in PSAL Manhattan A-II girls soccer at Central Park Thursday. The title is Beacon’s second straight crown. They were the city runner up last season.

Alexandra Easton and Laura Mindlin each added assists for Beacon (11-0), which scored twice in the first half. Megan Caccavale scored of an assist from Tammie Schneider for LaGuardia, which lost the first meeting 6-1 on Sept. 29. Elizabeth Kuhr made 14 saves for the Athletics (8-2-1).

Prospect Heights 2, Benjamin Banneker 1: Omeila Davis scored twice for Prospect Heights (6-3-2) in Brooklyn A-VII. Banneker is 5-4-1.

Grand Street 5, Tilden 0: Diamond Ballard scored four goals for Grand Street (9-2-0) in Brooklyn A-VII. Adilene Ceja had a goal and an assist and Lizette Cuautle had a helper. Tilden is 2-8.

Tottenville 4, Petrides 0: Brianna Castaldo scored twice and dished out two assists for Tottenville (10-0-1) in Staten Island A. Kaitlyn Regan and Nicole Tantillo each added goals. Petrides is 7-5-0.

Susan Wagner 2, New Dorp 0: Deanna Kvetkoff and Senda Karagozler each had goals for Susan Wagner (6-5). New Dorp is 4-7-0.

CLASS B

Beach Chanel 2, Far Rockaway 1: Gerlisa Hills scored twice for Beach Channel (4-7-1) in Queens B-VI. Valeria Fuentes added an assist. Far Rockaway is 5-6-1.
