Bloomberg, Thompson play nice in new ads

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his Democratic opponent used to say nice things about each other.

And now they’re both releasing television ads to prove it.

Except Bloomberg’s ad features the Democrat, William Thompson Jr., praising him, and Thompson’s features the mayor doing the same.

Thompson’s ad has Bloomberg saying during a 2007 speech that the Democrat “will go down in history as maybe the best comptroller the city has ever had.”

Bloomberg’s ad shows several clips of Thompson praising the mayor during television interviews with the NY1 cable news channel.

Whatever nice words the candidates used to have for each other are long gone — the race has officially turned negative.

Bloomberg is running on the Republican and Independent Party lines.
