But there have been talks with representatives — and former Mavs coach Avery Johnson is looking more and more like the choice to fill the coaching vacancy for the Nets.
Reps for Johnson were in the New York-New Jersey area Monday and flew out yesterday, it was learned.
Nets president Rod Thorn has maintained his tight-lipped stance about any and all candidates, simply acknowledging the process is “moving and ongoing” and that he has no timetable for a hire.
But several sources insist that Johnson has been and remains the leading choice — and that there were additional conversations with Thorn this week.
One source felt a deal was close to being finalized, but Thorn insisted, “I have made no offer.”

The Nets, who host a three-day, 36-player workout for multiple teams starting tomorrow, held a six-man workout yesterday, a session in which the guards “were the better players,” according to assistant Tom Barrise, who helped conduct the auditions.
Working yesterday were point guards Mikhail Torrance of Alabama and Anthony Johnson of Montana; wing players Terrico White of Mississippi and Quincy Pondexter of Washington, power forward Laurence Ekperigin of Lemoyne and center Art Parakhouski of Radford.
