2 NY teens arrested in plot to attack high school

Police say two teenagers extensively researched bomb making and planned to buy guns and launch a deadly attack against a Long Island high school.

Suffolk County police said Friday they arrested a 17-year-old ex-Connetquot High School student and his 16-year-old female accomplice on conspiracy charges after uncovering their plans to attack his former school.

Both pleaded not guilty at arraignment.

Police said the pair had searched explosives and bomb-making Web sites. Police said they also exchanged text messages in which they discussed plans to buy guns and kill people.

The older teenager left Connetquot High School and graduated from a special-education program where he met the girl, who is still a student. Both are being charged as adults. If convicted, they each face up to a year in jail.
