Connecticut canoeist latest Irene-linked death

BRISTOL, Conn. — The body of a man who went canoeing in flood waters in Bristol has been recovered.

Police say body of 46-year-old Shane Seaver of Bristol washed ashore late Sunday night in Plainville.

Police say Seaver and another man went canoeing down East Main Street in the flood waters left by Irene on Sunday afternoon.

The canoe capsized. Police say the other man made it to shore.

Seaver’s death is the second in the state linked to the storm.

Police say on person died early Sunday and another was severely injured in a fire at a house in Prospect that was apparently caused by downed power lines.
