Paterson: I’m joining NYU faculty

ALBANY – Former Gov. Paterson says he’s ditching the podium for the lectern and will be “joining the faculty” at New York University.

The former governor, who announced the move this morning during an appearance on the WOR 710-AM, said he expected to reveal more about his position tonight in a presentation at the prestigious Greenwich Village-based school. Details were not immediately available.

“I thought I was going to sit in the sun,” Paterson said. “But I’ve come back.”

The Democrat presided over two and a half tumultuous years of scandal, fiscal calamity and political turmoil after Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s resignation thrust him into the Executive Mansion.

The move to academia does not come as a surprise. Paterson repeatedly cited a teaching post as a potential fallback in his waning weeks before making way for Gov. Cuomo.

The governor was recently reported to have also taken a part-time job as a Washington lobbyist for the National Federation for the Blind.
