Giants’ Jones recovering from car accident: report (VIDEO)

Giants draft pick Chad Jones, a safety out of LSU who has yet to play for the team after suffering serious injuries in a summertime car accident, is making progress in his recovery, NJ.com reports.

The website was provided video of Jones’ rehabilitation in New Orleans.

In June, Jones, then 21, suffered serious injuries to his left leg and foot and doctors needed seven hours of surgery to stabilize his condition. Jones had multiple fractures to his left leg, shattering his tibia and fibula, and also had arteries and nerves exposed.

Jones, a two-sport (football and baseball) star at LSU, was taken by the Giants in the third round of the NFL Draft, the 76th player selected.

Jones’ agent, Rocky Arceneaux, told Gannett News Service in June, “I’m optimistic [of a 2011 return]. I would like to hope so. He’s such a great athlete. I think if anybody could pull it off and come back from this, it would be Chad.”
