Roker legal issues

Al Roker’s forecast is cloudy with a chance of legal trouble.

Two Jersey City men are suing Roker’s Spike TV reality show, “DEA,” for allegedly entering their apartment illegally — twice — then showing the searches and busts on TV.

Tyler Hodson and Eric McGuirl named Al Roker Entertainment, Spike TV, the Jersey City Police Department and the DEA in the lawsuit, which was filed in Hudson County Court, according to Courthouse News Service.

The men allege that “DEA” — which follows DEA agents tracking leads and making busts — entered their apartment on Jan. 29, 2009 without a search warrant and arrested one of the men (it’s unclear which one), who spent nine days in jail before posting bail.

Two months later, it happened again.

According to the suit, “DEA” showed up once more at the apartment on March 6, 2009 — again, without a warrant — where one of the men was arrested and put in handcuffs.

Hodson and McGuirl are seeking punitive damages for constitutional violations, trespass, harassment, false imprisonment, assault and unlawful detention.

Roker, best known as the “Today” show weatherman, produces many shows under his Al Roker Entertainment banner for networks including E!, The History Channel and Food Network.

Reps for Roker and Spike TV had no comment yesterday.
