Dip in ‘Grande’ larceny on UWS

Cops have good news for Upper West Siders who frequent Starbucks — when you return from the latte line, your laptop is more likely to be waiting for you than in years past.

Thefts at coffeehouses in the area have plunged 40 percent, from 27 in 2009 to 15 in 2010, according to police reports.

There has also been a big drop in larcenies at other businesses that attract tech-savvy types.

Grand larceny at Upper West Side fitness centers is down 60 percent — to 21 thefts last year from 53 in 2009. At theaters, thefts are down 17 percent.

Overall, grand larcenies are down 24 percent in the neighborhood.
