Bronx school-bus driver dead after being beaten up for knocking off side-view mirror

A Bronx school-bus driver has died from the beating he suffered after he accidentally knocked a side-view mirror from a double-parked car, his bus company said yesterday.

Juan Del Valle, 65, never regained consciousness after Joey Scott, 30, allegedly punched him twice in the face June 11, said Carolyn Daly, a spokeswoman for Atlantic Express.

Relatives from as far away as Colorado and Puerto Rico gathered at St. Barnabas Hospital before doctors turned off the life-support machines. Del Valle died at 6:19 p.m. Friday.

“The family had been struggling all week with whether or not to take him off life support,” Daly said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office yesterday ruled the death a homicide, cops said.

Scott is likely to end up charged with homicide during a court appearance tomorrow.
