Ike Davis hits a broken-bat grand slam in Pittsburgh

Get out the “We Like Ike” pins in Pittsburgh.

Former Mets first baseman Ike Davis, who was traded to the Pirates last week, clobbered a broken-bat grand slam on Monday night against the Reds, helping lead the Bucs to a 6-5 victory.

With the bases loaded in the fourth inning and the Pirates down 2-0, Davis hammered the first pitch from Reds starting pitcher Mike Leake into the right field stands at PNC Park.

The much-maligned Davis was off to a good start with his new club before the slam, batting .333 through his first two games in Pittsburgh after struggling with a .242 average for Mets.

The home run was Davis’ second of the year – ironically enough, his second grand slam of the year as well. That grand slam on April 5 was also against the Reds.

The Pirates beat the Reds on a walk-off hit by second baseman Neil Walker.
