Keyshawn Johnson arrested after domestic dispute

Former Jets star wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was busted Monday in California for allegedly roughing up his girlfriend, officials said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute at Johnson’s pad in the tony suburb of Calabasas, Calif., at 12:48 a.m., authorities said.

Deputies arrested the 41-year-old Johnson and booked him on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, police said

Johnson posted $20,000 bail and was released by 9:15 a.m.

The retired football star told friends he didn’t hit his gal pal, but admitted to smashing her cellphone, according to TMZ.com.

The mangled phone caused a gash to the woman’s hand, law-enforcement sources told the celebrity gossip Web site.

Johnson’s 11-season career included stints with the Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.

The star was best known to Gang Green fans for his biography, “Just Give Me the Damn Ball.” In it, Johnson — the No. 1 overall pick by the Jets in the 1996 draft — took shots at Jets management and teammates.

His 2001-02 Buccaneers won the Super Bowl.

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver now works as a studio commentator for ESPN.

A rep for the sports cable network said that the company is aware of Johnson’s arrest and is looking into the matter.

Reps for Johnson could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday.
