AMC sets Draper’s final pitch for ‘15

AMC is dividing the final season of “Mad Men” in half.

The show’s seventh season will now comprise two seven-episode arcs airing in the spring of 2014 and 2015 as the series wraps the sordid story of ‘60s-era New York ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm).

The move is reminiscent of what AMC did with “Breaking Bad,” which divided its final season into two eight-episode runs that kicked off last summer and this summer. The move resulted in record ratings for the series as it nears its finale episode (Sept. 29).

“We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience,” series creator Matthew Weiner said in a statement.
