Tweet love for that other Bieber

The simplest Twitter names can be a source of mass confusion.

When your handle is @bieber, for instance, you receive a lot of unintended messages meant for a certain teen heart throb.

Sometimes those fans can even be mean when they realize you’re not Justin Bieber.

In fact, you’re David Bieber, a Princeton grad student.

“Mostly I get a lot of ‘I love you @Bieber!!!! <3’ messages that I use to boost my self-esteem even though deep down I know they’re not directed at me,” Bieber told The Post in an email.

The tweenie pop star is currently the most followed person on Twitter with 45 million people tracking him on the service, where he goes by @justinbieber.

Twitter messages are often misdirected and fly off to @bieber or @justin, where Justin Williams gets flooded with teenage spam.

“I just block or report spam on each of them so they disappear,” Williams said. “It takes a little work, but I’ve got it down to a science now where I don’t even think about it that much.”

One tweeter with a rare and simple handle, @joe, is often confused with Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame.

“I receive an awful lot of tweets that are not for me,” said Joe Neale, who noted that he has been offered $1,000 to sell his name. So far, he has refused.

“It has become part of my online identity, some of my friends jokingly refer to me as ‘At Joe,’ ” he said.
