Bezos tops Vanity Fair’s power list

Jeff Bezos knocks Apple’s Tim Cook and Jonathan Ive off the No. 1 one position on Vanity Fair’s New Establishment list, which aims to chronicle the movers and shakers in popular culture.

The Amazon.com founder and CEO’s gutsy Washington Post buy and his position as the creator of the ecommerce giant that seemingly can’t be beaten got him to the top.

VF is clearly reading The Post business section closely.

It added hedge fund mogul Daniel Loeb to its power list for the first time. The Third Point chief clocks in at No. 20 — thanks to the results of his big Yahoo! shake-up and the latest hell-raising at Sotheby’s.

Samsung father-son duo Lee Kun-hee and Lee Jae-Yong, are also new recipients of Editor Graydon Carter’s fairy dust, ranking No. 6, thanks to sales of their company’s Galaxy smartphones.

Carter’s trip to Allen & Co.’s Sun Valley mogulfest in July obviously influenced calculations.
