Obama, Rouhani are now tweeting with each other

Twitter may have replaced the Cold War relic “red phone” in the Oval Office at the White House.

Soon after the historic phone call between Iran President Hassan Rouhani and President Obama, both leaders tweeted like songbirds on Friday.

Obama tweeted: “I express my respect for you and ppl of #Iran.”

“In regards to #nuclear issue, with political #will, there is a way to rapidly solve the matter,” Rouhani’s account sounded, followed by, “I express my gratitude for your #hospitality and your phone call. Have a good day Mr President.”

The president responded with a jab at the city, “I wish you a safe and pleasant journey and apologize if you’re experiencing the [horrendous] traffic in #NYC,” which, as any New Yorker knows, was mostly caused last week by the visits to the United Nations by world leaders like, um, the president of Iran.

Even Twitter CEO Dick Costolo chimed in with: “I feel like i’m witnessing a tectonic shift in the geo-political landscape reading @HassanRouhani tweets. Fascinating.”

This exchange could be good fodder to include in an S-1 filing with the SEC when Costolo and Co. decide to go public.
