Pistorius breaks Twitter silence with biblical barrage

Oscar Pistorius gave his Twitter followers some spiritual words of wisdom on Monday, tweeting for the first time since Feb. 14, the anniversary of his girlfriend’s death.

The Paralympic athlete and accused murderer broke his five-month silence with a biblical barrage that included a personal prayer, a Bible verse, photos with disabled children and an excerpt from the memoir of an Auschwitz survivor.

Pistorius began his social sermon on Sunday with a verse from Psalms 34:18.

Almost 30 minutes later, the South African track star tweeted a photo collage that showed him helping several disabled kids, with a message that said:

In his next tweet, Pistorius posted a passage from Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl as he carefully pointed to the text.

Pistorius concluded his Twitter call to salvation with a short prayer on Monday:

The tweets come while Pistorius is free on bail and facing 25 years to life for the slaying of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, whom he claims he shot by mistake.

His defense lawyer, Barry Roux, chose to rest their case last week in the controversial South African trial that has captivated people around the world.

Pistorius has been known for his antics throughout the trial, even weeping so violently that he began to throw up while he sat in the courtroom.

His outlandish displays of emotion have even caused people to wonder if the 27-year-old had received acting lessons — claims that his team has denied.
