Bus shooting victim: ‘I saw blood everywhere’

Three Queens families whose lives changed two years ago when a “delusional” and “paranoid” madman randomly opened fire on a crowded Queens bus after killing a teenager, gathered in court Thursday for day two of the murder’s trial.

“I heard two shots…There was a person walking back and forth, back and forth. He was talking to himself. He was paranoid,” said Jojuan Lipsey who forced his functioning left hand to lift his permanently limped right hand to get properly sworn in to testify against Q111 bus shooter, Damel Burton.

Burton’s attorney conceded to the charges against his client, but intends to prove that he is schizophrenic, suffers paranoid delusions and wasn’t in his right mind during the Dec. 2, 2011 shootings.

“[The passengers] rushed to the front screaming ‘shooting, shooting, let me out, let me out,'” said veteran bus driver, David Rose.

Burton, 36, coldly shot Marvin Gilkes in the back of the head.

Over 50 passengers frantically spilled out of the bus on Archer Avenue nearby Jamaica Center.

“I got off the back of the bus…someone said, ‘calm down you were shot,’ I didn’t even realize I was shot. I said ‘who me, no!’ Then I saw blood everywhere,” said Lipsey, a licensed mental health counselor, who was heading to Long Island City to coach a youth basketball team that day.

Lipsey, 32, is partially paralyzed due to the intense injuries to the left side of his brain, has slurred speech, learned how to walk again and is disabled from working.

Gilkes’ wife and Murrell’s relatives wiped away tears as they listened to Lipsey’s testimony.

“90 percent of patients with this wound die in the hospital,” said Sabastian Schubl, one of Lipsey’s emergency room surgeon’s at Jamaica Hospital.

Prosecutor, Daniel Saunders intends to prove that Burton is a cold-blooded killer that was “high on cocaine” during the shooting spree and if his gun didn’t jam there would be more causalities.

Burton was arrested nearby the bloody scene and reportedly, confessed to the police that he believed the commuters were plotting against him.

Minutes before Burton casually hopped on board the commuter line, he murdered his girlfriend’s 18-year-old son, Keith Murrell inside a second-floor apartment inside the Baisley Houses.

Witnesses, reportedly, saw Murrell climb out of the second-floor apartment to escape Burton’s rage.

Burton faces more than 50 years in prison if convicted.
