Rolle, Mangold, Cromartie make Pro Bowl

New York won’t be shut out in the Pro Bowl after all.

Giants safety Antrel Rolle, Jets center Nick Mangold and cornerback Antonio Cromartie have been named as replacements for Sunday’s game in Hawaii.

Rolle, the safety who last month voiced his displeasure with being left out of the game, is taking the place of Seattle’s Earl Thomas, who will be playing in the Super Bowl in two weeks, while Mangold subs in for Thomas’ teammate, Max Unger. Cromartie will be replacing injured Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib.

“It’s never been about going to Hawaii,” Rolle said in a statement released by the Giants. “I’ve been to Hawaii before. I’ve enjoyed the festivities, I’ve enjoyed the honor of being a Pro Bowl safety, a Pro Bowl player. That was never what it was about. It was always about getting what I very well deserved and what I accomplished throughout the year and going out there and representing my team, the New York Giants.”

It’ll be Rolle’s third trip to the Pro Bowl, Mangold’s fifth and Cromartie’s third. Cromartie must be a bit surprised after proclaiming last week he had “one of the worst seasons of my career.”

When the Pro Bowl teams were announced last month and Rolle was not selected, he tweeted, “Tell me which safety has better numbers and made more game changing plays than me this year???? I’ll wait!!!! This probowl s–t is a joke.”

“That’s why I play for myself, teammates, organization, family& fans,” he wrote in another tweet. “Nothing else matters. All this has done is added more fuel to my fire!”
